BEIJING, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) --China's southern island province of Hainan witnessed 407 new foreign-funded companies settling in the province in the first eight months this year, hiking 86.7 percent on year, said the provincial department of commerce in a recent interview with Xinhua.
During the period, the actual use of foreign investment in Hainan amounted to 387 million U.S. dollars, up 33.13 percent year on year, the department said.
An array of favorable policies have rolled out in Hainan after the release of a master plan for Hainan free trade port on June 1, which attracted more overseas investors to start businesses in the province.
During June and August, the number of new foreign-funded companies reached 225, accounting for 62.65 percent of the total number in the first eight months of this year.
