BEIJING, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- The north Chinese port city of Tianjin saw the value of its trade in goods reach 482.35 billion yuan in the first eight months, up 0.6 percent year on year, reported Economic Information Daily Tuesday.
This marked the first cumulative growth in goods trade of Tianjin since the start of this year.
Statistics from Tianjin Customs also showed that Tianjin's foreign trade kept double-digit growth since June.
The city's imports and exports in August reached 66.6 billion yuan, up 12.7 percent. Of the total, the exports stood at 30.53 billion yuan, jumping 20.8 percent, while the imports went up 6.7 percent to 36.07 billion yuan.
The European Union (EU) remained the largest trading partner of Tianjin in August, with the trade with the EU rising 2.2 percent year on year.
Also in August, the port city's trade with countries and regions involving in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) increased 21 percent year on year, accounting for 30.6 percent of the total foreign trade and showing a 2.1 percentage points increase over the same period of last year.
