BEIJING, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) – China will beef up efforts to push ahead with the high-quality development of food industry, improve food supply chain and enhance the anti-risk ability of food supply chain, said a senior official with the National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration.

The capabilities of grain production, reserves and circulation in China have been comprehensively improved, said Zhang Wufeng, head of the National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration at the International Forum on Development and Investment of Modern Supply Chain of Food during the ongoing 2020 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS).

According to Zhang, the country saw its grain output remain above 650 billion kilograms for five years in a row.

China will strive to develop international food trade, especially with Belt and Road related countries and regions, and support more food enterprises to go global, Zhang said.

The CIFTIS, which kicked off on last Friday at the China National Convention Center in Beijing, drew wide attention both online and offline. Themed "Global Services, Shared Prosperity", the six-day fair is the first major international economic and trade event held both online and offline by China since the COVID-19 outbreak.
