BEIJING, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- Central China's Hubei Province recently released a master plan for the development of next generation artificial intelligence (AI) for the 2020-2030 period, aiming to build itself into a national hub of AI technology innovation and application.
According to the master plan, Hubei will implement more than 100 AI application demonstration projects, grow over 10 AI enterprises with national influence, and develop AI industry to hit an industrial scale of over 20 billion yuan by 2022.
The province will strive to take the lead in China in terms of the overall technology and industrial development level of AI by 2025, with the industrial scale of AI industry and AI-driven industries hitting over 60 billion yuan and 600 billion yuan respectively.
By 2030, Hubei will build an AI industrial system featuring leading key technologies, characteristic application and balanced development of software and hardware. It is expected to see the industrial scale of AI industry reach 180 billion yuan in 2030, driving the size of related industries to reach 1.2 trillion yuan.
To achieve the objectives, Hubei will focus on promoting the application of AI in areas of production, people's life, and government services. For example, it will use AI technology to advance the new mode of AI-assisted diagnosis and treatment and build an intelligent health service system.
