MILAN, Sept. 3 (Class Editori) - TechnoAlpin is one of the companies which will participate to the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) in Beijing. And the event will be the occasion to show how the TF-10 snow guns work: they will be used for the springboard and in the National Alpine Skiing Center on the occasion of the Winter Olympics taking place in Beijing in two years. This is a way to get in touch with customers and buyers and present its own offers.
The company from Bolzano has indeed won the tender to bring snow to the Olympic facilities. There are 200 new snow guns and 23 pumps installed in Yanqing, the new skiing area which will be hosting all the alpine skiing races, both women's and men's competitions. In Guyangshu, cross-country skiing, biathlon, ski jumping and alpine skiing combined will be taking place. TechnoAlpin will supply 40 mobile snow guns and 15 nozzles. For Big Air races, instead, there are 7 snow guns available. The company from Bolzano has been collaborating with Genting Resort Secret Garden for a long time, where freestyle competitions and Nordic skiing will be taking place.
In overall, 350 snow guns are needed for the scheduled setting up. All plants have been designed in order to be fully automatized and "turnkey" produced by TechnoAlpin; tenders are worth about €20 million.
In China, TechnoAlpin owns two branches, one at Sanhe and one at Zhangjiakou, in Hebei. The latter is situated inside the "Snow and Ice Equipment Industrial Park". According to the company's words, it is an industrial park addressed to winter sports, including the appropriate clothing, snow installations and ski-lifts.
The branch is made up of two factories located on a total surface of 12,200 square metres addressed to production and storage, in addition to a further 1,020 square metres surface addressed to offices and other services. Apart from departments dedicated to purchases, administration, logistics, Research & Development and quality control, Zhangjiakou mainly hosts production factories for the manufacture of accessories for snow guns and different components for snow installations.
TechnoAlpin has been established by three business partners: Walter Rieder, Erich Gummerer and Georg Eisath. Rieder and Eisath were managers of the Obereggeen sky area in the Trentino Alto Adige Dolomites and developed the snowmaking machine prototype specifically designed in order to adapt to the climatic conditions of the south area of the Alpine ridge. Gummer, the current CEO, joined them in 1990 and together they established the company, whose current turnover amounts at around €250 million, with 2,400 customers in 50 countries.
