RAOT sees Thailand a global production center for rubber gloves

September 03, 2020

Abstract : The Minister Chalermchai Sri-on ordered Rubber Authority of Thailand to accelerate the"agricultural production+commercial marketing" pattern to make Thailand a global production center for rubber gloves.

InfoQuest (September 3, 2020) – According to Mr. Alongkorn Ponlaboot, an adviser to the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, the Minister Chalermchai Sri-on ordered Rubber Authority of Thailand (RAOT) to accelerate the "agricultural production + commercial marketing" pattern to make Thailand a global production center for rubber gloves. The 2020 market demand forecast for rubber gloves is projected to reach 360 billion, totaling at least 40 billion baht. Thailand ranks first in latex exports for 100% pure rubber gloves and second in global rubber glove exports, with a growth rate of 8-15 percent.

Thailand's Rubber Price Regulation Committee will hold its 5th meeting on September 9, 2020 when Mr. Alongkon Phonlabutis expected to chair the meeting and issue a new policy for Agritech and Innovation Center to support RAOT's innovative product development from natural rubber targeting rubber farmers' income improvement, rubber prices stabilization and value increase of rubber products.

RAOT Governor Nakorn Takaviraphat said that Thailand's rubber processing industry headed into a promising development, especially in rubber gloves; and RAOT launched a credit support project worth 25 billion baht for rubber product practitioners, to facilitate downstream practitioners' production expansion and machine replacement, improve the strength of Thailand's rubber industry, and make Thailand a more stable global leader in production and export of rubber and rubber products. Recipients must be manufacturers of rubber products as required.

"RAOT also cooperate with several parties to promote the systematic and long-term development of rubber industry", Mr. Nakorn added. RAOT will further establish partnership with Thailand National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC), the Department of Science Service, major universities, and practitioners in rubber glove production, research, innovation, and rubber glove-related technologies.
