BEIJING, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- East China's Jiangsu Province achieved positive growth in its foreign trade in July.
Its total imports and exports in July amounted to 404.72 billion yuan (about 58.4 billion U.S. dollars), representing a year-on-year increase of 4.2 percent. In breakdown, its exports in the month were 248.55 billion yuan, an increase of 1.3 percent year on year, and its imports stood at 156.17 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.1 percent, according to the local customs.
In the first seven month of the year, the province saw its foreign trade amount to 2,410.88 billion yuan, down 1.7 percent year on year, narrowing by 1.1 percentage points compared with the decrease for the first half, said the customs of Nanjing.
In terms of exports, its exports to the ASEAN maintained growth during the period. Specifically, its trade with the ASEAN amounted to 335.15 billion yuan in the first seven months of the year, an increase of 5 percent, 6.7 percentage points higher than the overall trade growth rate of the province.
The province's private enterprises achieved 821.63 billion yuan of foreign trade in the period from January to July, an increase of 10.2 percent, representing an increase of 2.1 percentage points from the growth in the first half. (Edited by Hu Pingchao with Xinhua Silk Road, hupingchao@xinhua.org)
