BEIJING, July 23 (Xinhua) -- China's internet data service is gaining momentum, reported People's Daily Wednesday.
It said that according to a white paper issued recently by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, a think tank in China, the country's internet data service had generated a revenue of 11.62 billion yuan in 2019, up 25.6 percent year on year.
The figure indicates that the construction of new infrastructure in China is on the fast track and internet data has become a new driving force for China's high-quality economic development, said the report.
It noted that health QR code, cloud classroom and live-streaming sales all indicate that data has become a new production factor and computing power has become a new productivity.
The data centers in China reached about 74,000 in 2019, accounting for about 23 percent of the global total, and with the widespread popularity of telecommuting and remote collaboration, the revenue of internet data service is expected to continue a rapid growth in 2020, said the report.
The revenue figure also indicates the booming digital transformation of different industries in China and the convenience brought to people's life by the information technology, the report noted.
For instance, the artificial intelligence (AI) agricultural technology service platform and the intelligent detection equipment have helped improve the work efficiency of farmers and workers, and the cloud server has helped secure the smooth progress of online courses.
