BEIJING, July 17 (Xinhua) -- Travel agencies in China's Shanghai have been given permission to resume group tours that cross provincial borders following a period of suspension due to the novel coronavirus epidemic, according to Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism on Thursday.
At the same time, flight and hotel packages deals are also allowed to resume while overseas group tours are still banned.
According to the regulations released by Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism, tourists should show their health QR codes to travel agencies when signing up for group tours and should have the nucleic acid tests taken again before starting their travels and also wear masks during the journey on public transportations.
Travel agencies and online travel companies should strictly control the number of visitors during different time periods, promote small-scale teams to carry out tourism activities in time-sharing, batch-wise, and separated areas to prevent visitors gathering, said the regulations.
The regulations also require travel agencies and online travel companies to implement the epidemic prevention and control requirements in transportation, accommodation, catering, sightseeing and shopping, strengthen civilized tourism promotion and promote new health tourism methods such as meal-sharing system and public chopsticks system.
It is believed that the resumption of trans-provincial tours will not only meet the tourism and leisure needs of residents, promote the growth of tourism consumption, but also promote the tourism enterprises' work resumption, injecting a booster into the revitalization of the cultural tourism market.
