BEIJING, July 16 (Xinhua) -- Hulunbuir, located in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, has taken measures to boost tourism recovery and development after the novel coronavirus pandemic.
The Hulunbuir Grassland usually enters the peak season for tourism in July for its high latitudes. However, due to the novel coronavirus epidemic, the region's tourism industry has been significantly affected.
In view of the decreased tourists from other provinces during the epidemic prevention and control period, Hulunbuir has launched tourism packages for local residents to visit their hometown with various measures implemented including the 2.5-day flexible holiday schedule on weekends, the distribution of travel and catering consumption vouchers, and preferential promotion activities launched by major scenic spots.
Hulunbuir has also used online channels to enhance tourism promotion. The online press conference of the Hulunbuir Summer Tourism held recently was simultaneously broadcast by 18 online platforms, attracting millions of people to watch. In addition, online celebrities were invited to go in-depth tour in Hulunbuir to further enhance Hulunbuir's tourism industry.
Though greatly affected by the epidemic, the number of visitors has rebounded significantly when enteringthe summer tourist season, said Qi Dianli, director of Hulunbuir Municipal Bureau of Culture, Broadcast-TV and Tourism. Now, the consumer confidence in tourism industry is picking up. The tourism economy will continue to stabilize and improve, effectively expanding domestic demand and driving consumption, he added.
