BEIJING, July 13 (Xinhua) -- China's mobile phone shipments amounted to 28.63 million units in June, down 16.6 percent year on year, data from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) showed.
Shipments of 5G phones stood at 17.51 million units last month, accounting for 61.2 percent of the total, said the CAICT, a research institute under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
In the same period, about 24 new 5G models were introduced in the market, making up 51.1 percent of the total new models, according to the CAICT.
In the first six months of this year, China's mobile phone shipments slid 17.7 percent year on year to 15.3 billion units, CAICT data showed.
Shipments of 5G phones in the first six months of this year reached 63.597 million units, with 105 new 5G models released during the period.
