BEIJING, July 13 (Xinhua) -- China's shipbuilding industry has presented a sound development trend and remained competitive around the globe despite of the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the country's Ministry of Natural Resources(MNR).
Authoritative data show that China's new shipbuilding orders, total shipbuilding orders and delivery of ships in the first half of 2020 all ranked first worldwide, with each accounting for 65.4 percent, 48.3 percent and 37 percent of the global total.
According to China's 2019 marine economic statistical bulletin released by MNR, China's marine ship industry had rebounded and achieved a rapid growth in 2019, and the operating income of the marine ship companies with annual main business income of 20 million yuan or above and under key monitoring increased by 13.5 percent from 2018.
The bulletin also said that the added value of China's marine ship industry in 2019 grew by 11.3 percent from 2018 to 118.2 billion yuan.
The epidemic will not change the upward trend of China's shipbuilding industry, and the industry market can remain stable throughout the year, said Tan Naifen, deputy secretary-general of the China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry.
