MILAN, June 26 (Class Editori) - Italferr will design and supervise the work on the metropolitan lines of Kanpur and Agra in India. The engineering company of the Fs group has been awarded the five-year contract worth over € 43 million in partnership with the Spanish company Typsa.
Italferr's share of over € 19 million involves the design of four corridors (total length over 62 kilometers) between the two cities of the North of the Federation, which will include 57 stations and four depots.
For Fs it is the most important order in India with which it confirms its leadership not only in the high-speed sector, but also in the panorama of international metropolitan public transport, becoming with Italferr one of the main players in the Indian engineering market.
The entire work, worth a total of € 2.4 billion, is financed with funds from the Indian government and the European Investment Bank
Specifically, the new Kanpur metro line will develop through two main corridors. The first from Kanpur to Naubasta and the second from "Agricultural University" (total length over 32 kilometers with 30 stations and 2 depots). The metro line in Agra will also include two corridors that will connect Sikandra to Taj East Gate and Agra Cantt to Kalindi Vihar respectively (overall length over 30 kilometers with 27 stations and 2 depots).
Fs, a note recalls, has already been present with Italferr for some years in India with a branch in New Delhi, which in the coming months will be transformed into a real company.
In India FS Italiane has been engaged since 2016 for the realization of strategic works, including the design and supervision of works for the construction of the Anji Khad Bridge, the first cable-stayed bridge with a very high technical prestige, the project management consulting activities for the development two new Mumbai metro lines and, since 2017, quality and safety verification activities for the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor- Khurja - Dadri Section project, one of the flagship freight corridors of the Indian railways.
In 2019, the group led by Gianfranco Battisti obtained the award of the design and support for the construction of the two lots within the railway line between Rishikesh and Karanprayag (125 km long) in the state of Uttarakhand and with the assignment for general consultancy for the most important project in the Delhi region, pioneer of the "Regional Rapid Transit" program, which concerns the development of a railway service in the city which will arrive at a speed of 180 kilometers per hour.
