June 12, 2020

Abstract : The number of inbound and outbound China-Europe cargo trains crossing the inland port of Alashankou in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region surged 68.4 percent on year to 453 in May this year, reported local newpapaer xjdaily.com Thursday.

URUMQI, June 12 (Xinhua) – The number of inbound and outbound China-Europe cargo trains crossing the inland port of Alashankou in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region surged 68.4 percent on year to 453 in May this year, reported local newpapaer xjdaily.com Thursday.

Since the beginning of May, the daily operation volume of the freight trains at the port has reached 14 trains, rising from the daily average of 9 to 10 trains in the same period last year, according to local customs.

Traffic volume at Alashankou Port also continued to grow, posting a operation amount of 15 pairs of wide-rail pick-up and departure trains and 12 pairs of quasi-rail pick-up and departure trains, ensuring the stability of transportation of goods, the industrial chain, and supply chain.

It is noted that the local customs authorities and transportation departments have ensured the smooth operation of the freight trains at the port by simplifying the customs clearance procedures and launching express customs channels for the cargo trains.

As an essential channel to boost China's foreign trade, the Alashankou port currently operates a total of 12 China-Europe freight train routes, connecting Chinese provinces and cities such as Henan, Shaanxi and Chongqing with Asian and European countries.
