SHIJIAZHUANG, June 8 (Xinhua) -- A data center and a monitoring center built by Huawei as part of a key cloud project have started operations.
The first phase of Huawei's Langfang cloud data center project in north China's Hebei Province that started construction in July 2019 with a total investment of 3.5 billion yuan (about 495 million U.S. dollars) is spread over 34,000 square meters.
The center is expected to undertake the Chinese tech giant's major cloud-related businesses in north China.
Modular IT rooms, prefabricated power modules with high reliability, intelligent monitoring, rapid cabinet deployment and other advanced technologies have been adopted in the cloud data center, according to project director Chen Yuhua.
The five-story machine room building of the center has eight IT modules and some 1,000 standard server cabinets meant to have 18,000 server devices deployed, Chen added.
Construction of other facilities in the first phase of the project is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year. Construction of the second phase will begin in July this year and is expected to start operations in the second half of 2021. Enditem
