BEIJING, June 4 (Xinhua) -- China's State Grid EV Service inked a strategic cooperation agreement with German automaker BMW Group on Wednesday.
According to the agreement, the two sides will cooperate in charging technology research and innovation, charging service promotion, and the application of clean energies in the whole lifecycle of electric vehicles.
State Grid EV Service has built the world's largest Internet of vehicles and the most extensive expressway fast charging network. The partnership with BMW Group will be beneficial to the development of new energy vehicle industry in China, according to Quan Shengming, chairman of State Grid EV Service.
As a subsidiary of State Grid Corporation of China, State Grid EV Service is responsible for the development of the state-owned grid giant's charging and battery swap businesses, providing integrated services covering people, vehicles, ships, piles, networks, electricity and storage for governments, charging operators, automobile manufacturers, battery enterprises, and individual users.
Jochen Goller, president and CEO of BMW Group Region China, said that China has led the world in electrification and digitalization. Through the strategic cooperation with State Grid EV Service, BMW will be able to provide users with more convenient charging services.
It's learned that BMW Group will further expand its charging network across China in partnership with State Grid EV Service. It intends to provide more than 270,000 charging piles for users by the end of this year. (Edited by Su Dan with Xinhua Silk Road, silviasu07@163.com)
