Abstract : The first phase of China's deepest submarine pipeline laying project has been successfully completed in the western area of South China Sea, marking a great breakthrough in China's deepwater oil and gas development capability, reported Shanghai Securities News on Wednesday.

BEIJING, June 3 (Xinhua) -- The first phase of China's deepest submarine pipeline laying project has been successfully completed in the western area of South China Sea, marking a great breakthrough in China's deepwater oil and gas development capability, reported Shanghai Securities News on Wednesday.

The project, one of the Lingshui 17-2 natural gas field development projects, was conducted by China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), with the laying operation depth of 1,542 meters, creating a new record for submarine pipelines laying deepth in China.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2020.
