MILAN, June 1 (Class Editori) - Ansaldo Energia completed the last stages of the construction and start-up of the Mornaguia gas-fired power plant in Tunisia ahead of schedule. Despite the difficulties related to the health emergency triggered by Covid-19, it managed to reach the full production capacity of the 600MW plant, in time for the peak of summer consumption.
The contract, worth approximately € 250 million for the construction of a 600 MW power plant operated by two gas turbines, was awarded to Ansaldo in 2018.
The agreement with Société Tunisienne de l'Élecriticité et du Gaz (STEG) provides for an EPC contract (Engineering, Procurement and Construction, "turnkey" supply) for the construction of an open-cycle gas-fired thermoelectric plant and a contract LTSA (Long Term Service Agreement) for maintenance and assistance of the plant.
The plant will be equipped with two gas turbines model AE94.3A and related generators and auxiliary systems built in the Ansaldo Energia plants in Genoa.
Ansaldo Energia consolidates and strengthens its historic presence in Tunisia, having already built the "Sousse C" and "Sousse D" plants, in the region of Sidi Abdel-Hamid (Sousse Governorate), "Rades B" and following the service activities of the Ghannouch plant.
The group closed 2019 with consolidated revenues of 984.1 million, a loss for the year of 255.7 million in the consolidated financial statements and 122.3 million in the financial year. The financial statements reflect the deconsolidation of some subsidiaries for which a disposal process has been started. In the last year, Ansaldo Energia also recorded a 30% increase in orders (€ 1.3 billion) which brought the portfolio to almost 4.4 billion. The EBITDA was a positive € 134.3 million with an EBITDA margin of 13.6%. The net consolidated equity is 193.2 million, while that of the parent company is 219.2 million.
