US corporations continue to be by far the largest foreign investors in Germany. According to a recent study, however, they have recently increasingly invested their money in other locations in Europe. According to surveys conducted by the consulting firm EY, the number of investment projects by US corporations in Germany fell in 2019, but increased in the UK and France in particular.

According to the study, the most popular destination for foreign investors in Europe last year was France for the first time (1,197 projects), which overtook Great Britain (1,109) to take the first place. As in the previous year, Germany was in third place. The authors of the study estimate that about one third of all investments announced by foreign investors in Europe last year have now been postponed or cancelled due to the coronavirus crisis.
