BEIJING, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Chongqing Municipality in southwest China on Monday issued an online service capability certification and network freight road transportation business license to a local logistics company, marking the birth of the first "network freight" license in the city, reported Chongqing Daily Wednesday.
The full name of "network freight" is network platform road freight transport, referring to a business activity of road cargo transport in which the operator relies on the internet platform to integrate and allocate transport resources, signs a transport contract with the shipper as the carrier, and entrusts an actual carrier to complete the transport.
The operator assumes the responsibility of the carrier.
By making full use of bid data, Internet of Things (IoT) and other digital technology, "network freight" would promote the efficient use of logistics resources, improve freight efficiency and bring benefits to both the carrier and the shipper through insurance, finance and other platform value-added services.
"'Network freight' is expected to drive the digital transformation of the entire logistics industry in the future, thereby fostering the qualitative change of intelligent logistics," said an industry expert.
It's learned that currently there are still many companies in Chongqing preparing for the application of the "network freight" business licenses. (Edited by Gu Shanshan with Xinhua Silk Road, gushanshan.1987@163.com)
