BEIJING, May 14 (Xinhua) – China launched a total of 252 new public-private partnership (PPP) projects in the first four months of this year, the Xinhua-run Shanghai Securities News reported on Thursday.
Among the 252 PPP projects, 102 projects have been registered in April, compared with overall 150 ones in the first quarter of this year, showed data from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).
By far, a total of 7,137 PPP projects had been registered on the country's PPP information monitoring and service platform, according to the NDRC.
Jin Yongxiang, chairman of Dayue Consulting, noted that as the resumption of business and production activities continues, China will quicken the pace to promote the construction of PPP projects.
PPPs are a collaborative investment model between government and private companies.
Chinese authorities have explored funding infrastructure and public works through PPP models since late 2013, reducing local government debts and exploring new investment opportunities for private capital.
