BEIJING, April 28 (Xinhua) -- The number of internet users in China had reached 904 million as of March 2020, up 75.08 million from the end of 2018, said a report on China's internet development released Tuesday.
By March, the country's internet availability rate hit 64.5 percent, showed the report issued by the China Internet Network Information Center.
According to the report, the number of online shopping users in China amounted to 710 million. As an important part of the digital economy, online consumption is playing a significant role in promoting the vigorous development of the country's consumer market.
Besides, online education in China has seen explosive growth in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak, with the number of online education users surging 110.2 percent from the end of 2018 to 423 million as of March this year. (Edited by Yang Yifan with Xinhua Silk Road, yangyifan@xinhua.org)
