BEIJING, April 27 (Xinhua) -- Despite the epidemic, the Export-Import Bank of China and the Hungarian Ministry of Finance signed a loan agreement for the construction of Hungarian section of Hungary-Serbia railway, reported chinanews.com on Saturday.
The Hungarian section has a total length of 159.4 kilometers. The signed loan agreement marks the project entering implementation phase.
It is learned that the Hungary-Serbia Railway is an important part of the China-Europe continental express. After completion, the Budapest-Belgrade railway line will be upgraded to an electrified one, thereby shortening the trip between the capitals of Hungary and Serbia to three and a half hours.
The Hungary-Serbia Railway is the flagship project of China and Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries cooperation, it plays an important role in China-EU interconnection cooperation. It is of great significance for the construction of Belt and Road initiative and deepening China-EU cooperation.
