BEIJING, April 23 (Xinhua) - China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) and Qatar Petroleum inked on Wednesday a contract worth 20 billion yuan for the building of liquified natural gas (LNG) carriers.
It is the largest export carrier deal in China’s shipbuilding industry.
Under the deal, the two parties will take their respective advantages to develop extensive cooperation in the fields of energy transportation, equipment manufacturing, and global services.
It is learned that the carriers will be built by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, the subsidiaries of the CSSC.
Lei Fanpei, chairman of CSSC, said that Qatar Petroleum's decision to begin the shipbuilding program will surely give strong impetus to stabilize the development of the global energy industry and boost the morale of the world economy.
