BEIJING, April 17 (Xinhua) – Wenzhou City in East China's Zhejiang Province announced on Thursday a plan to hand out consumption e-coupons worth 1.8 billion yuan to local consumers.
Such a move illustrated the local government's latest efforts to spur local consumption held back by the COVID-19 outbreak.
It is learned that the e-coupons will support consumption at specified offline stores in the various fields, such as shopping and catering services. Local consumers can apply for the e-coupons on Alibaba's online-payment service Alipay from April 18.
Alipay hopes to fully mobilize merchants to launch more preferential measures for customers through the e-coupon program in collaboration with local governments, said Wang Dongxing, a management personnel of Ant Financial, adding that Alipay is committed to providing digital assistance for epidemic-hit merchants in Wenzhou so as to promote the digital transformation and upgrading of Wenzhou's economy.
