BEIJING, April 14 (Xinhua) -- China's excavator industry saw a total of 49,408 excavators sold in March, a year-on-year increase of 11.59 percent, according to the data released by China Construction Machinery Association lately.
Excavators are indispensable in infrastructure construction, and their production and sales are closely related to the progress of infrastructure projects. The figure indicates that domestic infrastructure projects and enterprises have further accelerated their pace to resume production, and investment will continue to play a key role in stabilizing economic growth, said expert.
The growth rate of excavator sales in March in China has picked up significantly from that in February. It is worth noting that 31,616 small excavators were sold in March, up 18.49 percent year on year, contributing 96.18 percent to the total excavator sales growth in China.
The rapid growth in sales of small excavators is mainly because they are mainly used in new rural construction and municipal projects, as new rural construction is less affected by the COVID-19 epidemic.
With the implementation of a series of policies for promoting infrastructure construction, major projects have resumed construction and real estate projects have been launched. It is expected that the proportion of medium-sized excavators will gradually pick up from April.
