BEIJING, April 14 (Xinhua) -- South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region has recently unveiled a circular to specify key tasks for the participation in the Belt and Road construction in 2020.
According to the circular, it will continue to promote construction of international passages linked to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), such as the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, China-ASEAN Information Harbor, and China-ASEAN Port Cities Cooperation Network.
Guangxi will strengthen construction of cooperation platforms, like the 17th China-ASEAN Expo and other investment summits, and the industrial parks such as the Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park (MCKIP) and the China-Malaysia Qinzhou Industrial Park (CMQIP).
It will make efforts to strengthen foreign trade and investment exchanges by adjusting and optimizing the foreign trade structure, intensifying opening-up of the ports and enhancing efficiency of customs clearance.
In addition, Guangxi will strengthen cooperation with ASEAN in fields of the technology innovation, environmental protection, law enforcement security and anti-corruption, and quality infrastructure and standards, according to the circular.
The ASEAN has overtaken the United States to become China's second largest trading partner in 2019.
China's trade volume with ASEAN climbed 14.1 percent to 4.43 trillion yuan (about 642.7 billion U.S. dollars) last year, data from the General Administration of Customs (GAC) showed. (Edited by Hu Pingchao with Xinhua Silk Road, hupingchao@xinhua.org)
