Italiaonline with Alibaba to support SMEs’ exports worldwide

April 01, 2020

Abstract : The platform led by Roberto Giacchi, owned by the Egyptian family Sawiris, has signed an agreement with the platform of the group Alibaba with the aim of fostering the access of Italian SMEs - through the e-commerce - to international markets.

MILAN, March 30 (Class Editori) - Italiaonline and Alibaba.com, the key global platform for B2B e-commerce and part of the Alibaba group, have signed a collaboration agreement in order to foster the Made in Italy exports by the Italian SMEs, 100% digitally. Italiaonline, in fact, will link the SMEs clients to the B2B marketplace of Alibaba, which is active in 190 countries and can boast 18 million buyers and contents translated into 16 languages.

Thanks to the presence on the e-commerce platform of Alibaba.com, the SMEs clients of Italiaonline can therefore be in touch with buyers from all over the world. This agreement is further widening the offer by Italiaonline focused on supporting SMEs, thanks to the synergy between the virtual window supplied by Alibaba.com and the products and services of each kind that Italiaonline is already offering to its SMEs clients.

The advantages of the Alibaba.com platform for the SMEs which rely on Italiaonline are the following: the possibility to widen their business on foreign markets; to be found by customers on the basis of their product category; to directly negotiate purchase prices according, for example, to the customer and the geographical area, as well as to keep directly in touch with customers without any intermediary. Last but not least, a certification of the truth of the information published by the company, in order to strengthen the buyers’ trust.

The offer, which has been improved by Italiaonline and Alibaba, is of two kinds (Standard and Premium) and changes according to the features and needs of the company client or potential client.

“With the access to an international showcase of top level such as the one supplied by Alibaba.com, we will provide to Italian companies and particularly to SMEs unique visibility and business development opportunities”, as Roberto Giacchi- Italiaonline CEO- has underlined. “We have always been next to our enterprises on the territory and in particular we would like to be close to them in this moment of difficulty for our country and economy. Thanks to the support of Italiaonline and Alibaba- the e-commerce giant-, we will be able to create new value for our clients, by guiding them, through the usage of the Internet channel, in new cross-border markets, where they can establish themselves.

Rodrigo Cipriani Foresio- Alibaba General Manager for South Europe- has explained: “Alibaba knows the value and the potential of Made in Italy and it has been in the front-line for years by supporting brands and Italian SMEs during their digitalization and internationalization process, in China and globally. For this reason, Italy is the first country in Europe where Alibaba.com has created a local team and a dedicated offer. In this delicate phase for the Italian economy and entrepreneurship, we are even more proud of joining forces with Italiaonline and making the B2B platform Alibaba.com and our market knowledge available, in order to allow companies to widen their commercial outlets and grow, by accessing this permanent online exhibition whenever and wherever”.
