BEIJING, March 25 (Xinhua) -- Cainiao, the logistics unit of Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba, will launch almost 200 charter flights in March and April to help international trade recovery and production resumption amid the novel coronavirus epidemic, according to the Xinhua-run China Securities Journal on Monday.
During the epidemic, Cainiao is one of the few logistics rescue networks in the world still operating normally. It uses freight charter planes to carry out transportation in more than 100 countries and regions around the world.
According to Zhao Jian, a general manager with Cainiao, by intelligently dispatching the logistics resources of partners in various countries, network optimization, intelligent customs clearance and other technologies, Cainiao's network is effectively operated.
At present, Cainiao has operated charter flights from Hangzhou to Latvia's Riga, Russia's Moscow and Belgium's Liege, from Harbin to Russia's Yekaterinburg, and from Hong Kong to Liege, Saudi Arabia's Riyadh, and Israel's Tel Aviv. (Edited by Gao Jingyan with Xinhua Silk Road, gaojingyan@xinhua.org)
