BEIJING, March 27 (Xinhua) -- Central China’s Hunan Province saw its foreign trade with countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) increase by 1.74 percent year on year in the first two months of 2020, said Department of Commerce of Hunan Province on Wednesday.
However, hit by the epidemic and affected by the high base in the year earlier period, Hunan’s foreign trade dropped 10 percent on year to 47.254 billion yuan during the period.
At present, all the major foreign trade companies in Hunan have resumed work, with production capacity recovering rapidly.
Zhou Yue, vice director of Hunan’s Department of Commerce, noted that in the next phase, Hunan will enhance analysis on overseas epidemic situation and organize the export of epidemic prevention supplies and consumer goods. (Edited by Zhang Yuan with Xinhua Silk Road, zhangyuan11@xinhua.org)
