BEIJING, March 26 (Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) will formulate policies to promote digital transformation of related industries, such as the manufacturing industry, according to Xie Shaofeng, MIIT spokesperson at a press conference on Wednesday.
During the period of the epidemic prevention and control, demand for application of the new generation information technologies has increased significantly, and many industries and fields have become important test grounds for new technologies, said Xie.
The MIIT will organize the implementation of a digital transformation action plan for the manufacturing industry, formulate standards for the promotion and development of next-generation information technology, cultivate data-driven enterprises, and encourage enterprises to accelerate organizational change and business innovation with digital transformation, according to Xie.
At the same time, the MIIT will intensify the construction of new digital infrastructure and give full play to role of new infrastructure such as 5G, data centers, and industrial Internet.
"Thanks to advantages such as high speed, low power consumption, and low latency, 5G can be applied in the vertical field of the Industrial Internet. The 5G private network can be applied in six major scenarios including intelligent navigation, auxiliary assembly and remote operation and maintenance, predictive maintenance, high-voltage distribution network load control, equipment IoT, and remote control of industrial equipment," said Yuan Xiaoqing, an expert of China Center for Information Industry Development (CCID), a scientific research entity under MIIT.
