NANJING, March 18 (Xinhua) -- Chinese autonomous driving solution provider Momenta on Wednesday established a strategic partnership with Japanese automaker Toyota Motor Corporation to develop a high definition mapping service for self-driving vehicles in China.
The two companies will jointly promote the commercialization of Toyota's automated mapping platform in the Chinese market and better serve Chinese customers.
Cao Xudong, CEO of Momenta, said the map, supported by visual positioning and perception technology based on deep learning, will achieve automatic high-precision mapping with a relative accuracy of 10 cm, using only consumer-grade sensors.
"We hope to better serve our customers through this partnership that binds our leading technology with Toyota's experience in the automotive industry," Cao said.
Backed by German car manufacturer Daimler, Momenta is headquartered in Suzhou, east China's Jiangsu Province, and has set up its R&D center in Beijing.
