BEIJING, March. 10 (Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of Science and Technology on Monday announced that it has recently issued a document to buildew-generation artificial intelligence (AI) innovation development pilot areas in east China's Ji'nan City, northwest China's Xi'an City and southwest China's Chengdu City and Chongqing Municipality, reported Economic Information Daily on Tuesday.
The move thus has extended China's new-generation AI innovation development pilot areas to ten cities and one county, together with Beijing, east China's Shanghai, Hefei City, Hangzhou City and Deqing County in Zhejiang Province, south China's Shenzhen City and north China's Tianjin previously approved to build such areas.
According to the document, the test areas planned to be built in Ji'nan, Xi'an, Chengdu and Chongqing will each have their own characteristics.
For instance, Ji'nan, capital city of Shandong Province, will leverage its rich AI application scenarios, strong computing power, abundant data resources and other advantages to strengthen AI technology research and development, improve intelligent infrastructure, and promote intelligent transformation and upgrading of traditional industries by applying AI technology into manufacturing, agriculture, transport and other key areas.
