BEIJING, March 9 (Xinhua) -- China's courier sector has resumed over 80 percent of its normal delivery capacity, and its daily processing capacity has reached more than 160 million pieces, an official with the State Post Bureau (SPB) said Monday.
China's postal and courier enterprises had handled 173 million parcels or 82,400 tonnes of materials for the prevention and control of the COVID-19 epidemic as of Sunday, said Hou Yanbo, deputy head of the market supervision department of the SPB, at a press conference.
Nearly 3 million employees have returned to work in the postal and express delivery sector, about 92.5 percent of the total employees, Hou said.
The industry will continue to complete the task of resuming production and improving capacity as soon as possible, Hou said.
