BEIJING, March 3 (Xinhua) -- The world's largest combined cycle power station in Saudi Arabia, constructed by SEPCO Electric Power Construction Corporation (SEPCO) and POWERCHINA Nuclear Engineering Company, has recently successfully connected to the power grid, reported Economic Daily Monday.
Located near a refinery in Jazan Economic Area in Saudi Arabia, it is run by the oil giant Saudi Aramco. It consists of 5 generating units with a total installed capacity of 3,850 MW. Each unit is equipped with two gas turbines and generators, two waste heat boilers, and one steam turbine.
Featuring energy saving and environmental protection, the project is expected to become a critical power source and a model gasification power plant in Jazan and the entire western region of Saudi Arabia.
After completion, it will not only provide power to Jazan Economic Park, but also supply 2,400 MW of power to the Saudi National Power Grid.
