BEIJING, March 2 (Xinhua) -- East China's Shanghai Municipality has fully leveraged its advantages in 5G technology in the battle against the novel coronavirus pneumonia outbreak, reported the Xinhua-run Shanghai Securities News on Sunday.
5G technology-based devices like thermal imagers, telemedicine cloud platform, health monitors and smart robots were co-launched by the Shanghai Communications Administration (SCA) and the Shanghai branches of China Telecom, China Mobile, China Unicom and China Tower, four renowned communications firms in China, in the city's efforts to prevent and control the ongoing epidemic, according to Wang Tianguang, deputy director of SCA.
Besides, through joint efforts, seven 5G base stations were built and opened near the Shanghai Public Health Clinical Center to help with telecommunication services.
It's learned that under the organization of SCA, these firms also made efforts like opening various Internet and telephone services for medical institutions, ensuring smooth communications for key sectors and areas amid the epidemic. (Edited by Gu Shanshan, gushanshan.1987@163.com)
