CHONGQING, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- At the construction site of a tunnel of the second phase of the metro line 4 project in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, workers and machinery are busy working.
“We will try to gain back more than half a month's delay,” said an executive of a subsidiary of China Railway No. 8 Engineering Group, who is in charge of the project.
The resumption of the second phase of Chongqing rail transit line 4 is the epitome of a number of major transportation construction projects in Chongqing. Thanks to the joint efforts of related parties, several major urban rail, railway and expressway construction projects in Chongqing have resumed construction.
According to the Chongqing City Transportation Development and Investment Group, as of Monday, 18 rail transit section projects have resumed construction.
In terms of railway, a number of railway projects have restarted construction by Monday, such as the Chongqing section of Zhengzhou-Chongqing high-speed railway and the eastern ring of Chongqing railway hub, according to information from Chongqing Traffic Bureau.
Highway construction has also resumed in an orderly manner in Chongqing. The first inter-provincial highway linking Chongqing to north Shaanxi Province became the first highway project resumed construction in Chongqing since the Spring Festival on February 19.
Construction of Wubuhe bridge, a crucial part of the improvement project of the Chongqing-Hunan highway, also officially resumed work on February 21.
