MILAN, Feb. 20 (Class Editori) - Italian Fashion is supporting China. On the occasion of the Women Fashion Week and the initiative “China we are with you”, launched by CNMI (Camera nazionale della moda italiana) a meeting dedicated to China, to the city of Shanghai and the Jing'An district has been held. The meeting has been hosted by Montenapoleone vip lounge and organized in partnership with the Municipality of Milan and the representatives of the main fashion associations based in Milan.
“China is a key player for all the Global luxury brands we represent, not only from an economic but also from a cultural point of view. In this moment of great difficulty, MonteNapoleone districts wants to express all its sympathy and support to Chinese population, to whom we send a message of friendship, fighting against each kind of closeness and prejudice”, Guglielmo Miani, Chairman of Montenapoleone District has declared.
The meeting has been attended by Cristina Tajani, assessor for work policies, productive activities, trade and human resources, the Chinese Consulate, the MOFCOM (Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China), the main representatives of the Milan Fashion system, Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, Altagamma, Confindustria moda, Montenapoleone district, Italy-China Foundation and Italy-China Fashion & creative council.
“With the today meeting and the beginning of the Fashion Week, Milan and its Fashion system want to send a joined message of sympathy and support to China and the city of Shanghai, to which Milan has been strongly linked by a friendship and cooperation bond lasting for more than 40 years”, Cristina Tajani has declared. “Fashion means openness and not closeness: culture and connections among people become elements of friendship and deep personal relationships, against each kind of discrimination and inequality towards Chinese people, to whom we are extremely close today”.
Milan and Shanghai are bounded by a strong friendship since more than 40 years, which has been celebrated last year thanks to some initiatives among the two cities; both the cities interacted with each other through a range of cultural and economic events such as the one with Jing'An district, called the new “East Manhattan”, which took place in Milan for the first time last September.
“In these days, the People’s Republic of China is facing a terrible epidemic which has affected and shaken the entire world. Chinese people are coping with this event with great strength and dignity, and they have been supported by everybody, starting from doctors and scientists”, as Carlo Capasa- the Chairman of CNMI - declared. “During Milan Women Fashion Week we want to give a signal of closeness and positivity thanks to the campaign “China, we are with you”. The initiative is aiming at underlining the importance of informing and working together on a global level, in order to contain the epidemic but, moreover, in order to turn this global alarm into a wave of solidarity able to break down barriers”.
In today’s meeting, participants were able to exchange opinions and data about the Chinese market evolution and the impact which may be generated by this situation on the Italian Fashion system, to which today, China, as we know, is representing an important and strong segment. “Milan and its fashion system are launching a jointed message of great solidarity and closeness towards Shanghai and China, by asking to all Italian people to express closeness and not distance in respect of Chinese people on this difficult moment”, Stefano Mologni has stated, Chairman of the Fashion Committee Italy-China and Government ambassadors of the district of Jing'An in Shanghai.
Moreover, this year we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of economic relationships between Italy and China, also combined with the celebrations of the year of culture and tourism as well, and Milan is really involved in this occasion. A jointed work between the Municipality of Milan and its fashion associations may help to overcome these difficulties, through both promotion and supportive activities, in order to show solidarity to Chinese people and help Italian companies to better understand the ongoing situation.
