BEIJING, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- China will advance the high-quality development of ocean shipping industry and build an industry system with significantly higher service quality, improved safe, green and intelligent level, strengthened competitiveness and innovation capability by 2025, according to the Ministry of Transport (MOT) on Monday.
Seven Chinese ministries including the MOT, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology have jointly issued a guidance on advancing the high quality development of the ocean shipping industry.
Accordoing to the document, China will develop its ocean shipping industry with higher capabilities of participation in international shipping governance by 2025.
The guidance specified that China will further optimize the size and structure of the shipping fleet, actively develop LNG ships and cruise fleet, master key design and manufacturing technology, improve container, crude, dry bulk and special transport fleets’ competitiveness, while advancing reform of ocean shipping enterprises to reach such target.
China aims for world’s top level for the industry in terms of greenness, intelligence as well as comprehensive competitiveness and targets world advanced safe development and service assurance capability for the industry by 2035, and basically realize modernization for ocean shipping industry’s governance system and governance capability, the guidance said.
The ocean shipping industry is expected to fully realize modernization by 2050, according to the guidance. (Edited by Niu Huizhe, niuhuizhe@xinhua.org)
