BEIJING, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- A recent report on China's cultural industry has included "Blockchain," "5G plus Culture" and "Nighttime Economy" in its keywords for 2019, China Culture Daily reported Wednesday.
The report, released by the Institute for Cultural Industries at Peking University, summarized 10 keywords and 10 characteristics of the country's cultural industry in 2019 and 10 tendencies in 2020.
Digital technologies had a huge impact on the industry in the past year, with "Digital Cultural Industry," "5G plus Culture," "Empowerment by AI" and "Blockchain" among the 10 keywords, according to the report.
Buoyed by digital technologies and favorable policies, the cultural industry in China has helped empower other industries and is becoming a pillar of the national economy, said Xiang Yong, deputy director of the institute.
The other keywords were "Integration of Culture and Tourism," "Cultural Creativity," "City Branding," "Cultural Relic Protection" and "Creative Industrial Park."
In 2019, China's cultural industry was also characterized by rapid growth, improving structure, growing consumption and a booming short video sector, among others, according to the report.
The report predicted that 2020 would see more legal support for the industry and more contributions of the industry to China's rural vitalization efforts.
