Italy-China Year of Culture and Tourism has begun

January 06, 2020

Abstract : The Temple of Heaven in Beijing and the Colosseum are the two symbolic monuments that will shape the official logo of the Italy-China Year of culture and Tourism.

MILAN, Jan. 6 (Class Editori) - The Temple of Heaven in Beijing and the Colosseum are the two symbolic monuments that will shape the official logo of the Italy-China Year of culture and Tourism.

The Temple of Heaven colored in red and the Colosseum in green, on a white background, to recall the colors of the Italian flag. 2020 will be full of events to celebrate the fifty years of diplomatic relations between Italy and the People's Republic of China.

A year full of events starting starting on the official opening of the year of tourism scheduled for January 21 at the Auditorium Parco dellaMusica in Rome.

According to the data reported in the annual report "China 2019", prepared by the Centro Studi per l'Impresa Fondazione Italia Cina, 162 million Chinese traveled abroad in 2018 (+13.5percent).

Estimates of the number of Chinese tourists in Europe oscillate between 5.5 and 12 million, while for Italy there is talk of about 1.5 million, with Fiumicino, which for 2020 has set the target of exceeding the 1 million quota for overseas passengers welcomed.

Italy "aims for a further +12percent in terms of arrivals and overnight stays. The Chinese are fascinated by Italian culture, from food and wine to cities of art. ENIT has already entered into agreements with Alibaba's Taobao platform and the major Chinese tour operator Ctrip.

Everything to intercept well-defined targets," explained the president of ENIT, Giorgio Palmucci in recent months.

Chinese tourism is also changing. No longer just organized groups ready to visit 10 European capitals in 12 days and mainly dedicated to shopping. Individual journeys in search of quality and local experiences, such as museums, theaters and restaurants, also take on importance among the new generations.

On promotional platforms, therefore, efforts are being made to push interest not only towards the goals set: Milan for shopping, Rome, Venice, Florence, but also towards villages and areas less traveled by tourism from the People's Republic, as can be the regions of the South. For example, Aeroporti di Puglia recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Cits, a state-controlled tour operator that serves more than 20 million incoming and 30 million outgoing tourists, with the aim of promoting the Italia Top project Destination.
