BEIJING, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- China Hainan Rubber Industry Group Co., Ltd. (Hainan Rubber, 601118.SH), a leading Chinese company mainly engaged in the planting, processing and distribution of natural rubber, has bucked the industrial downward trend and achieved sustainable high-quality growth via scientific and technological (sci-tech) innovation in recent years, Wang Renfei, president of Hainan Rubber said at the 15th Global Rubber Conference (GRC2019) held in Haikou, south China's Hainan province during December 12-14.
The company bagged a net profit of 229 million yuan in 2018, and ranked first among the province's 31 listed companies in terms of business performance in the first half of 2019, according to Wang, who is also the deputy general manager of Haiken holding group.
The achievements came after Hainan Rubber's sci-tech innovation in agricultural and industrial links as well as development of rubber plantations. They could also be attributed to the company's innovative solutions that cover the full industrial chain ranging from natural rubber planting, cutting, collecting, primary processing and deep processing to high-end manufacturing.
In the agricultural link, Hainan Rubber has introduced rubber tree tissue cultures, developed intelligent rubber cutting robots, built a whole field latex automatic processing line, and used unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-based technology. Due to these efforts, the company has made progress in areas of rubber planting, collecting, processing as well as rubber forest management and maintenance.
The rubber giant has also sped up innovating rubber making techniques. It has developed the electrophoretic flocculation method, which will take advantage of rubber wastewater and produce high-value products such as l-quebrachitol and bio-fertilizer.
At the same time, the company extends its industrial chain to high-end latex product field, creating a new development model integrating "natural latex + mattress products + travel experience".
To make full use of rubber plantations, Hainan Rubber has built tropical modern agricultural bases for under-forest planting and breeding, high-efficiency agriculture with tropical characteristics, and leisure agricultural tourism, while developing such business as the preservation, storage, logistics, and processing of tropical agricultural produce.
