BEIJING, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- SERES, a subsidiary of Chongqing Sokon Industrial Group Co., Ltd. (601127.SH) recently signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Shenzhen BYD Microelectronics Co., Ltd. (BYD Microelectronics), a subsidiary of China's leading new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer BYD (1211.HK, 002594.SZ), to jointly promote the development of power electronics.
The signing of this agreement will help the two companies carry out in-depth cooperation in fields like new energy vehicle power electronics, the design and R&D of high-power motor controllers, vehicle controllers, network controllers and high-voltage power distribution boxes. It will also be conducive to further improving the two companies' operational efficiency, reducing their operating costs and realizing their respective market expansion strategies.
It is learned that as SERES' newly-built modern PACK and electric drive factory with Industry 4.0 standards in Chongqing is capable of mass production, the high-performance electric powertrain and EV battery pack products of the company will soon be available in the global market.
SERES, a powertrain system solutions provider with research and development (R&D) and sales operations in Silicon Valley and Detroit respectively, mainly engages in R&D, production, supply and sales of power devices. Its main products include high-performance battery systems, electric drive units and range extender systems.
BYD Microelectronics, boasting China's leading automotive IGBT (insulated gate bipolar transistor) industry chain, mainly produces IGBT modules and wafers, SiC (silicon carbide) modules and wafers, automotive current sensors, MCUs (Microcontroller Units), IPMs (intelligent power modules) and other related products.
