Ansaldo Energia, six contracts to supply turbines for the Chinese market

November 15, 2019

Abstract : Ansaldo Energia signed six new contracts for the supply of gas turbines to the Chinese market. The orders have been entrusted on the occasion of the International Import Expo in Shanghai.

MILAN, Nov. 13 (Class Editori) -- Ansaldo Energia signed six new contracts for the supply of gas turbines to the Chinese market. The orders have been entrusted on the occasion of the International Import Expo in Shanghai.

The company chaired by Giuseppe Zampini will supply the main components for 4 AE94.3 gas turbines destined for the Datang utility for the Wanning projects, in the province of Hainan and Foshan in the Guangdong area.

To that order it is to add the supply of 2 AE64.3A gas turbines for the end customer State Power Investment, at the Jieyang site in Guangdong. SPIC, one of the five main Chinese utilities in the field of power generation, is a key end customer for Ansaldo Energia.

During 2019, the company signed contracts for five other turbines. The partnership established in 2014 with Shanghai Electric Corporation which owns 40 percent, allowed the group controlled by Cassa Depositi e Prestiti through Cdp Equity a continuous growth in the market of the People's Republic of China.

During these five years, production orders were activated for almost 40 gas turbines destined for the Chinese market with a production value in the factories of Genoa of around half a billion euros.

The assembly will be largely carried out by the joint venture between the group and the Chinese partner. In the past few months, following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding for Chinese-Italian cooperation along the Belt and Road Initiative, Ansaldo Energia has also been awarded nuclear safety and the decommissioning of a nuclear plant of the China National Nuclear Corporation.

Last March, Ansaldo Energia and China United Gas Turbine Company (UGTC) signed an agreement for technological collaboration in the heavy-duty gas turbine sector. The agreement follows the MoU with State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC), the majority shareholder of UGTC. In recent weeks, a SPIC delegation also visited the Genoa headquarters to start the operations.
