InfoQuest (November 14, 2019) -- Ms. Somjin Pinluek, governor of the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) revealed that the IEAT has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with PTT Public Company Limited (PTT). The two sides are pledged to conduct R&D cooperation to respond to the Industrial Transformation Platform (ITP) policy, achieve concrete results in developing the robot and automation systems to enhance the strength of enterprises to help usher in the era of Industry 4.0, and establish effective data interconnections between enterprises, government agencies, financial institutions and system integrators involved in the digital platform to help enterprises get access to various kinds of support, such as one-stop services like investment promotion, consultations, assessment of investment feasibility and rate of return, financial funding and soft loans.

"The IEAT and the PTT will work with interested factories inside and outside the industrial park to develop new digital services, including technologies applied to commercial operations. The Industrial Transformation Platform (ITP) Program, for example, is a central platform for exchanges between all parties, namely, the user (industrial enterprises), the service provider (system integrators providing robots, software and machinery services), and the supporter (the government, the private sector and financial institutions). The platform is designed to create an environment that is suitable and conducive to business operations, and to promote the application of robot systems, automation systems and digital technologies into the production process so as to enter Industry 4.0. At the initial phase, efforts will be stepped up to link the relevant implementation information to jointly determine the development direction of the information base to meet various needs in industrial sector, such as the needs from manufacturers and distributors, and the needs generated in designing and production process improvement to enhance efficiency and reduce defects, in new products R&D, environment governance and information system application in production management," said Ms. Somjin.

Ms. Somjin added that the application of this system will enable enterprises to access quality, reliable, demand-satisfying, just-in-time, and reasonably priced service providers. It can thus help enterprises to bring down procurement and employment costs, apply to the public and private sectors for various preferential treatments, and obtain funds easily, quickly and smoothly. At the same time, the system will also push forward mass production and widespread use of robots and automation systems, and promote the employment of highly skilled workers to cater for Thailand's New S-Curve strategic industries.

Mr. Chansin Treenuchagron, PPT president and CEO, noted that the company will pledge to push forward work in accordance with the new digital services development plan, develop the ITP program to become a tool to establish an ecosystem to boost the economic development of Thailand according to Thailand 4.0 policy, and participate in developing certification standards for digital services and other related fields and roll out measures to encourage enterprises to turn to the adoption of robot systems, automation systems and digital technologies in order to move towards the era of Industry 4.0 and fully realize the objectives of Thailand 4.0.
