ZHENGZHOU, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- Zhang Yanan, a Ph.D. of Nanjing-based Southeast University Saturday came over Zhengzhou from Nanjing, which is hundreds of miles away, just to seek job opportunities in a talent recruitment conference held in the capital city of central China's Henan Province.
At the Second Talent Recruitment & Project Matching Event for Innovation and Development held in Zhengzhou on Saturday, a total of 157,432 positions were offered by 11,553 employers in 65 industries in Henan province.
The jobs openings cover 459 majors including machinery, clinical medicine, education, business administration, public administration, computer, oceanography. The demand for doctor and master graduates respectively accounts for 13.78 percent and 30.97 percent of the total.
The event is significant for inland provinces to explore a path of innovation and opening up, integrate into the global network of innovation and promote international cooperation and communication, said Huang Wei, Vice Minister of Science and Technology when addressing the conference.
Over the years, Henan provincial government has attached great importance to absorbing talents. It has made great efforts to create an atmosphere of recognizing, cherishing and respecting talents, and the event has become a name card for Henan to attract talents to work and start a business here.
Last week, the Shanghai special session of the conference was successfully held on the campus of Shanghai Jiaotong University. "In the future, we hope to provide more excellent graduates and more extensive intellectual support for the development of Henan," said Ding Kuiling, executive vice President of Shanghai Jiaotong University, at the opening ceremony.
Up to now, 30,834 job applicants have reached an intention, and 808 agreements have been signed on the scene, including 515 projects for high-level talents and 293 projects for science and technology.
The event was co-sponsored by the CPC Henan Provincial Committee, Henan Provincial Government, Western Returned Scholars Association (Overseas-educated Scholars Association of China) and China postdoctoral science foundation.
