Automaker Porsche and software giant SAP are planning to work together in the future on the development of new software for the automotive industry. The companies have agreed on a strategic partnership for this purpose, Porsche’s CFO Lutz Meschke said on Wednesday evening at the start of the "Handelsblatt Auto Summit" in Stuttgart. Among other things, the cooperation will focus on the use of artificial intelligence as well as business models based on the collection and use of data.
Porsche and SAP have already worked together in the past, for example on the development of the car manufacturer's order management system. The products that they develop together in the future will then also be offered to other companies.
In the automotive industry, which is undergoing transformation, the digital business is becoming more and more important. Many manufacturers are working on new business models, more or less outside their core business, such as mobility services or lifestyle offerings. Porsche is also investing a lot of money here. At the same time, the digital networking of their own production and logistics is likely to help carmakers to reduce their costs.
