KUNMING, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- A new direct flight linking Japan's Osaka and Kunming, capital of southwest China's Yunnan Province was launched Thursday, according to the China Eastern Yunnan Airlines.
The company will operate the route using a Boeing 737 aircraft. The MU2571 flight takes off at 4:30 p.m. (local time) in Kunming every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, and the returning MU2572 flight departs Osaka at 9:00 a.m. (local time) every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.
The number of air passengers from Yunnan to Japan in 2018 totaled 113,000, according to the Yunnan Airports Group.
The new route is expected to shorten the flight time from Yunnan to Osaka and improve the travel experience of passengers.
China Eastern Yunnan Airlines operates 133 domestic routes, 4 regional routes and 33 international routes, and serves more than 300 flights a day.
