BEIJING, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- Weichai Group, a leading Chinese powertrain producer, on Monday officially put into operation its engine production plant built jointly with the Belarusian Maz Group in China-Belarus Industrial Park.
Located in the park near the Minsk Airport, the plant covers an area of about 34,000 square meters. It is expected to annually produce 20,000 units of diesel engines.
The diesel engines that meet the Euro VI emission standards will be sold to Russia and Ukraine in addition to the Belarusian market.
Weichai Group has become an important strategic partner of the Maz Group in terms of engine and transmission supply. With the continuous development of cooperation between the two sides, the automobile products produced by Weichai have been increasingly applied to all kinds of vehicles produced by Maz Group, which greatly enhances the latter's competitiveness and also helps it to explore the international market, said Ivankovic, general manager of the Maz Group.
The plant is an important industrial cooperation project between China and Belarus. It has received strong support from Belarus and has become a landmark project for successful cooperation between the two countries, said Tan Xuguang, chairman of Weichai Group, adding that Weichai will continue to expand its cooperation with Belarus and play a greater role in the Belt and Road construction.
