InfoQuest, (Sept. 06, 2019) -- After completing the investigation of the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD), Puttipong Punnakanta, the Minister of Digital Economy and Society said that he had urged the TMD to provide information support for farmers and fishermen to make relevant decisions and improve weather forecast accuracy by adopting modern digital technologies, so that they could obtain the public's trust in weather forecasts. In order to improve weather forecast accuracy effectively based on modern technologies within the next two years, more meteorological centres will be set up by the TMD to expand the coverage and better forecast weather changes. The centers were firstly established in the poverty-stricken areas in the northeast and gradually extended to the whole country, aiming to be completed within two years.
Modern digital technologies will be adopted in meteorological centers and data from satellites will be compiled into Big Data so that the TMD could make more accurate weather forecasts, reduce public losses and work with other agencies to create agricultural map systems, as well as connect with related agricultural technical services.
